The MANCIAS family recently had the pleasure of visiting Arlington, TX, and it turned out to be one of our most memorable vacations. All 10 of us joined forces to take on this week filled with family & fun. With the excitement of the MLB All-Star Weekend festivities on the agenda, we knew we were in for an action-packed adventure.
Planning and Preparation
Choosing the Destination: As huge baseball fans, attending the MLB All-Star Weekend in Arlington, TX was a dream come true. The combination of sports, family activities, and the charm of Arlington made it an easy choice.
Booking and Reservations: We stayed at a luxury vacation rental Arlington Hero House, with a pool, putting green, and game room, which offered excellent amenities and a convenient location close to the stadium and other attractions. Booking in advance ensured we got the best accommodations and rates.
MLB All Star Events
Celebrity Softball Game: We attended the Celebrity Softball Game and saw Deion Sanders coaching the National League. The game was filled with exciting moments and plenty of laughter.
Celebrities in Attendance: The star-studded lineup included actors, musicians, and athletes. We saw Tyler Toney (Dude Perfect), Tiffany Haddish (Actor/Comedian), and Jenna Bandy (Guiness World Record Holder) showcasing their skills and having a blast on the field.
Game Highlights: One of the most memorable moments was when Terrell Owens hit a home run, sending the crowd into a frenzy. The playful banter between the celebrities and Deion Sanders' enthusiastic coaching added to the fun.
FanFest: Our second full day was spent at the MLB FanFest at Choctaw Stadium. The interactive exhibits, autograph sessions, and activities kept the entire family entertained. Or maybe not….it was so HOT we actually didn’t spend a lot of time at this event.
Home Run Derby: The first bomb was the questionable National Anthem Performance by Grammy Nominee Ingrid Andress. This event may have made more headlines than the actual Home Run derby.
Watching the Home Run Derby live was an incredible experience. The energy in the stadium was electric, and the kids were thrilled to see their favorite players in action. We didn’t catch a HOME RUN ball but we had a great time witnessing this spectacular showcase of talent! Congratulations to Teoscar Hernandez with the LA Dodgers on winning the 2024 Home Run Derby!
All-Star Game: The highlight of our trip was attending the MLB All-Star Game. The atmosphere was unforgettable, and it was a unique experience for our family. Texas did a fantastic job hosting this historic event.
BallPark Food: Overall this was my personal HIGHLIGHT! We were at the ballpark for basically 3 days. We tried all the foodie finds Globe Life has to offer! Chow mein, Poke bowls, Brisket Corn in a Cup, Micheladas, of course the traditional popcorn and hot dogs… PLUS so much more!!
Local Attractions:
Lunch at Babe's Chicken: We kicked off our vacation with a delicious meal at Babe's Chicken, enjoying hearty portions of Southern comfort food that left us all satisfied and eager for more. This is a MANCIAS family tradition everytime we visit Arlington.
Tour of the Best Maid Pickle Emporium: We took a fun detour to the Best Maid Pickle Emporium, where we learned about the history of pickles and sampled some unique and delicious varieties.
Family Bowling: We also enjoyed a friendly bowling competition, which added some fun and laughter to our trip.
Pool Day and Grilling: After a couple of action-packed days, we spent a relaxing day by the rental's pool, soaking up the sun and unwinding. We also enjoyed grilling by the pool, which made for a perfect family bonding experience.
The MANCIAS family vacation to Arlington, TX, centered around the MLB All-Star Weekend, was an incredible experience that we'll cherish forever. From the thrilling baseball events to the welcoming atmosphere of the city, the amazing hospitality of our Airbnb host, it was a trip filled with laughter, excitement, and wonderful memories.
